A burning desire....This is what Napolean Hill said is required of anyone who wants to achieve success in whatever they endeavor. Last week I mentioned an unexpected source of inspiration - the movie about Julia Child. What continues to inspire me is that she never, ever gave up on that cookbook, although she could have. And she did something else unusual and which I think is required to be successful - she paid attention to details. The "devil is in the details" and she tested every recipe until it worked perfectly. Why do I mention this in a blog about my road trip? Actually because my blog is about my current life journey and a huge part of that journey is the road to financial freedom and building a sustaining, successful business. I made the decision on August 14, 2009 that in exactly one year all of my debt would be paid off. I am not ready to disclose the amount but it is large and I have decided to get myself free of this obligation the old fashioned way. By budgeting, earning money and paying it down in a methodical manner. I am really good at excel spreadsheets now! So the past few days have been an interesting emotional and mental journey as I watch my thoughts about what I can and cannot do and them watch what I automatically, "Unconsciously" do. I am getting an SBA Loan for my business which is a long and arduous process and I have had many opportunities to give up, and am convinced many people don't get the loan because they give up on the process. However, I have been tenacious and am at the end. The loan has been approved and I just need to get the last of the documentation to the bank. And this is where the burning desire and devil in the details comes in, because it is 11:30am and I am in my pajamas still going through all of my personal records and old bank statements for the past two years to provide the last of the needed documentation. But just like Julia, I will not give up and it is that burning desire for financial freedom which keeps me in my filing box until I get everything together the bank needs. Not as exciting as driving across the country, but today it is the journey I need to take. Until next time....
